Our Story

In 2007, urged by an entrepreneurial spirit and the notion that a construction company could provide big service without the bureaucracy, Craig founded Garland Building Company. Since then, we’ve served clients large and small with attentiveness, responsiveness, and the good planning and decision-making that have become the trademark of our firm. The fundamental tenets of committing to the customer, of listening to various perspectives and coalescing into a seamless project, and of treating everyone with honesty and respect are the basis of our operation.

We are based in the heart of Boston’s Financial District which provides home base operations close to 90% of our projects. We have a dedicated team of project management and field operations staff that are professional, committed and loyal; many of whom have worked for Garland since its inception.

“At Garland we are dedicated to the collaborative process and value our partnerships with building owners, clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors without whom we wouldn’t be successful. I knew from day one that I wanted to provide a more personal service to our customer’s and I strive to be successful on every project both from a project-delivery standpoint as well as a personal one.”

– Craig Garland, President

Garland front

Garland Building Company supports many nonprofit organizations and charitable events. It’s a way to connect with colleagues, a way to have fun and a way to give back to the community where we live and work. Some of our ongoing relationships include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay and MDA’s Muscle Team Boston.

At Garland, we provide safety inspections and site reviews on all projects to ensure workers comply with company policies and government safety regulations. Additionally, Dan O’Neill, General Superintendent, ensures site safety across all active job sites.  He has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry and, along with management, is responsible for creating and implementing job-specific safety plans, company safety policies, workplace inspections, accident investigations, training, and compliance with the federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Our safety plans also incorporate our subcontractors and vendors while working to adhere to specific building programs as well.
